Biostimulators
Rebuilding your own collagen for a gradual, natural, long-lasting result.
Treatments that work with your own biology
Most injectable treatments add volume directly. Biostimulators work differently. Rather than filling an area, they prompt your own body to produce fresh collagen, the protein that gives skin its structure and firmness and that we steadily lose with age. The result builds gradually and looks entirely natural, because the improvement is in your own tissue.
This makes them an elegant option for restoring volume and structure, improving skin quality, and softening the early laxity that comes with collagen loss. The change appears slowly over months, so people see that you look refreshed without seeing why.
Dr. Husain offers the two leading biostimulators, choosing between them or combining them based on what suits you:
Sculptra®. Made of poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra works purely by stimulating collagen. The result develops gradually over two to three months as your own collagen rebuilds, and lasts around two years or more. It is ideal for restoring overall facial volume and structure in a subtle, progressive way.
Radiesse®. Made of calcium hydroxylapatite, Radiesse has a dual action. It gives immediate volume on the day, then continues to stimulate collagen over the following months, with results lasting around twelve to eighteen months.
In a more dilute form, Radiesse can also improve skin quality and firmness over larger areas, including crepey or lax skin on the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, and buttocks, and the appearance of mild cellulite. Here the aim is firmer, smoother skin rather than added size. If it is volume you are after for the buttocks, that is the role of a Brazilian Butt Lift (buttock fat transfer) instead. Every plan is tailored at your consultation.
Two ways to rebuild collagen
Is this right for you
You may be a good candidate if you:
• Have gradual volume loss or early skin laxity, particularly across the cheeks, temples, and jawline
• Would like to improve skin quality and firmness, including crepey skin on the neck, chest, or buttocks
• Prefer a natural result that builds gradually rather than an instant change
• Are comfortable with a short series of sessions for the best result
• Are in good general health and not pregnant or breastfeeding
Biostimulators work well alongside fillers, energy-based skin tightening, and surgery as part of a wider plan. What suits you is decided together at your consultation.
Comfortable, with little downtime
Treatment takes around twenty to thirty minutes. The product is injected into the deeper layers of the skin using a fine cannula, with numbing for comfort, and most patients return to their day straight away. Because the result builds over time, a short series of sessions spaced a month apart is usually planned for the most natural outcome.
Simple aftercare for the best result
There is little downtime. For the first day, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot tubs. Gently massaging the treated areas as directed in the first few days helps the result settle evenly, and Dr. Husain will show you exactly how. Some mild swelling and redness are normal and settle within a few days.
A gradual, natural, lasting result
With Radiesse, you see immediate volume that is then maintained as collagen builds over the following months. With Sculptra, the change is gradual throughout, becoming visible over several weeks. Both give a natural, progressive improvement rather than a sudden one. Sculptra lasts around two years or more, Radiesse around twelve to eighteen months.
-
Dermal fillers add volume directly with a gel, for an immediate result. Biostimulators instead prompt your own body to build new collagen, so the result develops gradually and tends to last longer. Fillers are excellent for instant definition, biostimulators for natural, progressive restoration with mild skin tightening. The two often work together.
-
Very. Because the improvement is built from your own collagen and appears gradually, there is none of the sudden, just-treated look that can come with adding volume quickly. People tend to notice you look well rather than that you have had anything done.
-
It depends on the product and your goals. As a guide, most patients see significant improvement after two to three sessions, though some need only one, particularly with Radiesse. There is no fixed rule. Once you are happy with the result, there is no need to continue. Dr. Husain will plan the right course with you at your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Sculptra results typically last around two years or more, and Radiesse around twelve to eighteen months. Because biostimulators build your own collagen, the improvement is genuinely long lasting compared with many other injectables.
-
Yes. In a more dilute form, Radiesse is particularly good at improving the firmness and quality of the skin, including crepey or lax skin on the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, and buttocks, and the look of mild cellulite, by stimulating collagen across a wider area. On the buttocks the aim is firmer, smoother skin rather than added size; for volume, a Brazilian Butt Lift is the better option.
-
Yes, and they often are. Biostimulators work well alongside dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, energy-based skin tightening, and surgical procedures, as part of a plan designed around your goals.
