Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Refining the upper and lower eyelids for a refreshed, rested appearance.
When your eyes no longer reflect how you feel
The eyes are often the first place to show fatigue, age, and stress, even when none of these reflect how you actually feel. Many patients are told they look tired or sad when they are perfectly well rested. Others notice a heaviness in the upper lids that did not used to be there, or shadows and puffiness beneath the eyes that no longer respond to creams or rest.
Eyelid surgery addresses these changes directly, restoring a rested, refreshed appearance that better matches how you feel inside.
Blepharoplasty is the surgical refinement of the upper or lower eyelids, often both. Each addresses a different concern and can be performed together or independently.
Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty addresses heaviness or hooding of the upper eyelids. Excess skin, and where present excess fat, is carefully removed through an incision hidden within the natural eyelid crease.
Lower Blepharoplasty
Lower blepharoplasty addresses bags, puffiness, and shadows beneath the eyes. Dr. Husain performs this through a transconjunctival approach, a hidden incision inside the lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar. Fat is repositioned or removed as needed, and the lower eyelid is often refreshed with micro or nanofat grafting to improve volume, dark circles, and skin quality.
RF Microneedling
Where appropriate, RF microneedling can be added to refine skin texture and tone.
Two procedures, one consultation
Is eyelid surgery right for you?
Blepharoplasty may be right for you if:
• You feel your eyes make you look tired, heavy, or older than you feel
• You have excess upper eyelid skin
• You have under-eye bags or puffiness
• You want a refreshed appearance without changing your identity
• You are in good general health
During consultation, Dr. Husain will assess the upper and lower eyelids independently and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.
A tailored approach to the upper and lower eyelids
No two patients age in exactly the same way. For this reason, eyelid surgery is tailored to the individual rather than performed as a standard procedure.
Upper Eyelids
Excess skin and fat are removed through an incision hidden within the natural eyelid crease. The result is a lighter, more open appearance while maintaining the natural shape of the eye.
Lower Eyelids
Dr. Husain performs lower blepharoplasty through a transconjunctival approach whenever possible. This hidden incision inside the eyelid avoids an external scar while allowing fat to be repositioned or removed with precision.
Fat Grafting
Microfat and nanofat grafting are frequently combined with lower eyelid surgery to restore volume, soften dark circles, and improve skin quality.
Every procedure is performed by Dr. Husain in a fully accredited operating room with a board-certified anaesthesiologist.
A smooth recovery with minimal downtime
Most patients experience swelling and bruising for the first one to two weeks. Sutures are removed at approximately one week. Strenuous exercise is usually avoided for approximately four to six weeks, depending on the extent of surgery and the pace of healing.
Many patients return to social and professional activities within one to two weeks, depending on the extent of surgery and individual healing.
Dr. Husain provides detailed aftercare instructions and follows each patient closely throughout recovery.
Results that look rested, not operated on
The goal of eyelid surgery is not to change the eyes. It is to remove the signs of heaviness, puffiness, and fatigue that distract from them.
As swelling resolves, the eyes appear brighter, more open, and more rested. The result should look natural and harmonious with the rest of the face.
Patients often describe looking more refreshed, approachable, and energetic, while still looking completely like themselves.

Most upper blepharoplasty patients return to social life within 7–10 days. Lower blepharoplasty takes around two weeks, sometimes with light makeup. Most swelling resolves by three weeks.

Yes. Upper blepharoplasty is commonly paired with a brow lift or facelift. Lower blepharoplasty often combines well with facial fat grafting, RF skin tightening, or a facelift. Dr. Husain will recommend what is appropriate for you at your consultation.

Eyelid surgery is one of the safest and most refined procedures in facial surgery, performed by Dr. Husain in a fully accredited setting. While the natural process of ageing continues, the skin and fat removed during surgery do not return, which is why most patients find the results last for many years and often a lifetime. The eyes simply continue to age gently from their refreshed starting point.
-
Yes. This is the hallmark of well-performed eyelid surgery. Dr. Husain’s approach is built around preserving the natural shape and character of your eyes. The goal is to look rested, not different.
-
No. Upper blepharoplasty is most often performed comfortably under local anaesthesia in clinic. Lower blepharoplasty is performed in the operating room, typically with light sedation comparable to the sedation many patients have had for dental work. General anaesthesia is not required for either.
-
For upper blepharoplasty, the incision is hidden within the natural eyelid crease and is very difficult to see once healed. For lower blepharoplasty, the incision is placed inside the lid and leaves no visible scar.
